For the third year in a row, Plano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere and the Plano City Council have partnered with the North Texas Food Bank in the Food 4 Kids- Plano Peanut Butter Drive.  Food 4 Kids Plano The city of Plano hosted a peanut butter drive last fall for Food 4 Kids Plano.[/caption] “Hunger is a reality for a number of families in Plano,” said Steve Miniger, dean of curriculum and instruction at John Paul II High School. “One out of five children are considered food insecure.” Children like peanut butter and it provides them with key nutrients, said Anna Kurian, director of communications at NTFB. It also has a long shelf life which allows NTFB to stretch donations, she said. "Last year alone [Plano] brought in 10,000 jars of peanut butter," Kurian said. “[This year’s goal is to] surpass the 10,000 jars raised.” From now through Sept. 30, NTFB will collect plastic, regular-sized peanut butter jars.
