Prime Barber Academy will open a new school in Plano for those looking to work in the beauty industry.

Plano City Council approved a permit for the company to operate out of a 2,500-square-foot location at 3304 Coit Road, Ste. 700, during its March 28 meeting. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.

The academy will be owned by Dallas native Loai Aqrabawi, who also owns Prime Barber Lounge in Carrollton, according to city planning documents.

In a letter to council, Aqrabwi stated he plans to “establish prime barber academy in the great city of Plano to further education and help men and women find [their] passion and their career in the beauty industry.”

Aqrabwi also stated in his letter that the academy will seek to have one teacher for every six students enrolled in the school. Plano planning officials stated the trade school will complement other businesses in the area while adding a new educational opportunity for residents. 972-854-8443. www.facebook.com/PrimebarberLoungeDallas/
