The new 395,000-square-foot tower adds 140 universal and ICU-capable inpatient beds, according to the release.
Children’s Medical Center Plano’s expansion also includes a brand new emergency room with 48 exam rooms. The ER expansion is “critical” to Children’s Plano becoming certified as a Level II trauma center.
The expansion also includes space for the following specialty programs:
- Cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, neurology, pulmonology and surgical services
- Expansion and co-location of services of the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders
- Heart Center outpatient services, including a fetal heart program and new sports cardiology program
- Orthopedic and sports medicine offerings provided by the Children’s Health Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
- Non-chemotherapy-based infusion services
