A group of Plano residents who will recommend potential bond projects has been formed ahead of a planned bond election next year.

Plano City Council confirmed its eight appointees to the 2025 Bond Referendum Citizen Advisory Committee during a preliminary open meeting July 22. Appointments were made after the committee was formed last month.

Two-minute impact

Committee members will be responsible for considering various projects and making recommendations that are expected to go before voters next year. City officials previously indicated that a 2025 bond referendum would have propositions focused on streets, parks and recreation, and public safety.

Typically, the city has called a bond election every four years, with voters approving a $364 million bond package in 2021. Officials previously provided an estimate for a 2025 bond at around $700 million.

The details

Council members appointed eight individuals to serve on the committee, including:
  • Conner Barron
  • Gary Cary
  • Elle Cole
  • Brett Cooper
  • Steve Lavine
  • Ying Lu
  • Jim Reynolds
  • Andrew Schimenti
Each council member was able to appoint one member to the citizens bond committee.

What’s next?

The committee is expected to start meeting in August. Council has until Feb. 10, 2025 to call for a potential bond election.
