Grapevine residents who took an online survey about Lake Grapevine parks said they want more trails, a dog park and more restrooms, the City Council was told Tuesday by Andrea Thomas, president of National Service Research.
A total of 765 citizens took the online-only survey, Parks and Recreation Director Doug Evans told the council. That compares to 450 responses to a written survey mailed to 12,000 residents in 1994.
Thomas, whose firm conducted the survey,said it indicated: 62 percent of respondents rated communication about the lake parks as good or excellent; 69 percent said the city is doing a good job providing recreational programs for all ages; 42 percent participated in city-sponsored programs in the past two years, and of those 93 percent rated the programs as excellent or good.
The top facility need at the 10 lake parks was for restrooms, the survey respondents said. Other needs they noted were for more trails of all kinds, a dog park, fishing beaches, swimming beaches, and kayaing and canoe rentals.
