Grapevine City Council election results lead to runoff between O'Dell and Gatts

One of the things Gatts said she will focus on is improving communication and meeting as many voters as possible to learn what is important to them.

O'Dell said for the CI election issue in the April that she supports the city's fiscal responsibility and wants to be a part of the city's discussion regarding its undeveloped land and transportation issues.

Early voting for the runoff begins June 9 and the election will be on June 21.

Results are unofficial until canvassed.

In the race for the Grapevine City Council Place 6 seat, unofficial early results show Duff O'Dell leading with a margin in the four-candidate race, followed by LuAnn Chapman Gatts, Deverick P. Jordan and Marc Blum.

O'Dell and Gatts lead the race, with the frontrunner earning 704 total votes and Gatts following with 421. Candidate O'Dell received 44.14 percent of ballots cast, Gatts earned 26.39 percent, Deverick P. Jordan follows with 18.37 percent and then Marc Blum with 11.10 percent.

If none of the candidates receive 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff for the seat.

The four-person field jumped into the race to fill the seat previously held by Roy Stewart, who opted not to run for re-election this May.

The race for Place 5 drew only incumbent Chris Coy.
