Here are several street projects underway or recently completed in McKinney.

Completed projects

1. Ridge Road connection


Project: This project is connecting Ridge Road as a four-lane divided roadway with additional turn lanes between US 380 and Wilmeth Road. The project also includes one of the four multilane roundabouts planned for city roadways at the intersection of Ridge Road and Wilmeth Road.

Update: The roadway was completed Dec. 19, Capital Improvement Program Manager Blake Sills said in an email. Additional work on the roadway is expected in coming weeks, but the work is not expected to impact traffic, Sills said.

2. Collin McKinney Parkway connection


Project: This project consists of constructing a four-lane divided roadway extending Collin McKinney Parkway and connecting between Lake Forest Drive and Hardin Boulevard.

Update: Intermittent lane closures along Lake Forest Drive are also expected in coming months to allow for the construction of turn lanes at the Collin McKinney Parkway intersection. The project is expected to be completed and open to traffic in the spring.

3. East Louisiana Street roundabout

Project: This project includes construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Louisiana Street and Greenville Street.


Update: Westbound traffic on East Louisiana Street between the Dallas Area Rapid Transit railroad tracks just east of McDonald Street and South Murray Street is expected to reopen in the second week of January following a full road closure for construction. Eastbound traffic will continue to be detoured to East Virginia Street during the next phase of construction. Adjacent roadways, including Green Street and Andrews Street, will also be repaved beginning in January with estimated completion in March.

4. Wilmeth Road connection

Project: This project includes construction of a four-lane divided roadway connecting Wilmeth Drive between Lake Forest Drive and Hardin Boulevard as well as three multilane roundabouts along the new stretch of Wilmeth Road at the intersections of Lake Forest Drive, Taylor Burk Drive and Hardin Boulevard.

Update: The roundabouts at Wilmeth Road and Lake Forest Drive as well as Wilmeth Road and Hardin Boulevard are under construction and expected to be open in the spring. The roundabout at Wilmeth Road and Taylor Burk Drive is complete but is not expected to open until all of the roundabouts are complete.
