Construction on the Watermere at McKinney development is progressing as planned with the first units expected to be move-in ready later this year, according to an official.

The independent senior living community’s seven villas should be ready for occupancy by November, said Andrew Chapin, vice president of development for Integrated Real Estate Group. The main building will open in phases with the first phase expected to be delivered in spring 2025, he said.

Construction will continue after the first phase opens and is expected to wrap up during summer 2025, Chapin said.

The $48 million development was announced in 2022 after McKinney City Council approved a specific use permit earlier that year. The main building will include 221 apartment units consisting of two- and three-bedroom floor plans.
