1. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–McKinney
The 192-bed hospital, which opened in July 2012, was awarded a Level III designation for its maternal care, said Matthew Olivolo, Baylor Scott & White’s manager of North Texas media relations. The Maternal Center Level III designation indicates that the hospital meets various requirements for its maternal care, including the ability to care for pregnant and postpartum patients with conditions that present a risk of maternal morbidity as well as the ability to perform major surgery on-site, according to the Texas Administrative Code.
The hospital was also designated as a Primary Stroke Center and a Primary Heart Attack Center, Olivolo said. Other services offered at the hospital include orthopedics, heart and vascular care, diagnostic imaging, intensive and emergency care and more, according to its website. The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and a Level III NICU.

The 311-bed hospital, which has over 850 physicians and is a Level II Trauma Center, was named in Healthgrade’s 2025 America’s 250 Best Hospitals list. The hospital is one of four Medical City facilities named to the list, which is determined by assessing mortality and complication rates for common conditions and procedures, a January 27 news release states.
The hospital is also offering an enhanced treatment for atrial fibrillation, or AFib, that can offer shorter procedure times, reduced risk and quicker recovery, an April 9 news release states. Pulsed-field ablation, or PFA, uses non-thermal electrical pulses to target cells that trigger AFib rather than traditional ablations that use heat energy or extreme cold, which risks damaging surrounding tissue, the release states.
Construction projects valued at over $190 million are also planned and underway at the McKinney hospital, bringing new medical offices, additional beds and operating rooms, and new and refreshed suites at the Medical City Women’s Hospital McKinney.

The hospital, which opened in February 2010, was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission, according to an April 3 Facebook post. The award recognizes the hospital’s Advanced Hip and Knee Certification, which indicates “evidence-based proof of clinical quality,” the commission’s website states.
The 23-bed hospital has six operating rooms and offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient surgeries, its website states, including general surgery, otolaryngology, gynecology, urology, orthopedics and spine. Some surgeries at the facility utilize the minimally invasive da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system, according to the hospital’s website.
