A nearly $2.3 million project for the construction of a taxilane connector is planned for McKinney National Airport.

McKinney City Council members approved a construction contract for the project at a March 19 meeting.

The details

The contract approved for the Taxilane A4 project was awarded to Nu-Way Construction. The company submitted the lowest bid out of five bids received for the project, according to city documents.

Council approved the contract in the amount of $2,288,150 in a unanimous vote. The contract included a not-to-exceed amount of $2,864,000 in the case of any change orders, according to city documents.

The new taxilane will be located on the west side of the airport, to the south of the fixed-base operator terminal. The taxilane will connect Taxiway A to a planned hangar development that will also include a future Department of Public Safety facility, McKinney National Airport Director Ken Carley said at the meeting.

Funding for the taxilane connector project comes from the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2 fund, Carley said. The funding was approved by the zone’s board at a November meeting.
