MISD exceeded the state and region on STAAR performance at every grade level in every content area, according to district documents.
“We saw an overall growth of four points on our district ratings, and our campuses grew as well,” Akins said. “I also remind the board that 75% of our students attend an A-rated campus.”
College, career and military readiness rates show the preparedness of students once leaving high school, according to the TEA. The district was ranked No. 1 among the top 100 largest Texas school districts in college, career and military readiness scores, district documents show.
“We maintain an extremely high federal graduation rate, climbing to 98.8% with the class of 2025,” Akins said.
The district has identified college, career and military readiness in its strategic plan as an area for continued growth and is already seeing results, Akins said.
The TAPR report also includes information on
student performance in postsecondary institutions during the first year after graduation, per district documents. The most recent report shows data for the class of 2023. This does not include students who attend an out-of-state school or a private institution, Akins said.
