Lockwood Distillery announced a new location in downtown McKinney on Jan. 5.

The business, owned by Evan and Sally Batt, will operate as a full-service distillery as well as a restaurant and tasting room.

The details

The McKinney restaurant will be the third location for the business, with the first location having opened in Richardson in October 2019, Evan Batt said. Lockwood Distillery’s second location opened in Fort Worth in November 2022.

The owners considered a number of neighboring cities and communities but settled on McKinney, Evan Batt said, noting the potential to expand the business’s clientele further north.

“The neighborhood feel really is what kind of drew us to McKinney. Even though McKinney is a larger suburb, it still feels very small town, especially the downtown part.”

On the menu

Lockwood Distillery’s McKinney location will offer the full menu served at the original Richardson location, Evan Batt said, including shareable plates, soups, salads, sandwiches and more. The restaurant also features housemade ingredients, including pimento cheese, fermented hot sauce and pastrami brined in-house, Evan Batt said.

Spirits sold by the business, including whiskey, gin, vodka and rum, are distilled in-house and are used to create a variety of cocktails, according to the business’s website.

The restaurant will also offer to-go cocktails, food and bottles of distilled spirits through a streetside walk-up window, he said.

Also of note

The business is the only registered distillery in McKinney, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission’s website.

“There's a ton of people here, there's a lot of attention, there's a lot of ... events and festivals ... on the downtown square," Evan Batt said. "What they were lacking was a distillery.”
