Arkansas-based Seven Brew Coffee is planning a new location in McKinney. The drive-thru-only coffee concept is proposed on part of the land formerly used for Bill Smith’s Cafe at the northwest corner of US 380 and Sharon Lane.
The franchised coffee shop plans to use a two-lane drive-thru structure with no public access inside the building.
At its Sept. 27 meeting, the McKinney Planning and Zoning Board received a presentation about the proposed business. The commissioners voted 6-1 to approve a specific-use permit to allow for a restaurant with a drive-thru on the property, with Commissioner Charles Wattley voting against. The City Council will consider the request for the specific-use permit at its Oct. 3 meeting.
Seven Brew serves a variety of customizable coffee, tea, energy drinks, sodas, smoothies and shakes, according to its website.
