Ethan’s Bath Lab is now open in East McKinney.

The business, located in a storefront on the ground floor of the Heritage McKinney Square development, offers handmade soap and bath bombs, such as the lavender duck bath bomb, which features a rubber duck inside the bath bomb. Owner Ethan Leiker makes the bath bombs and Ethan’s mother Melissa Leiker makes the soap products.

Other products available include bath salts, and products at the store are made with water-soluble colorants to avoid staining, the business’s website states. The store also sells a variety of rubber ducks, including ducks featuring various animals as well as characters like Deadpool and Wolverine.

The set up

Ethan Leiker has the 48,XXXY chromosomal variation, which impacts speech, coordination, fine motor skills and more, Melissa Leiker said, which has made finding employment for him challenging.

Melissa Leiker said her son began making bath bombs as a hobby at home in mid-2023, and later began selling them at local craft fairs. Ethan Leiker later began selling the products online before eventually opening the storefront. He chose to open the store in East McKinney because he likes the uniqueness and inclusivity of the area, Melissa Leiker said.

“Ethan’s Bath Lab is an example of how even unique challenges such as rare chromosomal variants can be overcome with creativity and support,” the business’s website states.
