Service Street Auto Repair is set to open a new location in McKinney.

The context

McKinney City Council members approved a specific use permit for the location at an Aug. 6 meeting in a 5-0 vote, with council member Rick Franklin abstaining and council member Charlie Philips absent from the meeting.

The permit was required to allow the automotive use due to the zoning on the site, Director of Planning Jennifer Arnold said, noting that city staff recommended approval of the item. A site plan for the project includes a one-story, 4,400-square-foot building on the roughly 1-acre site.
