The Inpower IQ Performance Center is expected to open in September in south McKinney, Inpower IQ President Lance Wilson said.

The facility, located at 6051 Alma Road, was formerly home to the Michael Johnson Performance Center, which closed in early 2022.

The Inpower IQ Performance Center is the first facility of its kind for Inpower IQ, a Dallas-based athletic technology company.

The roughly 24,000-square-foot athletic center will offer customized athletic training for young athletes as well as adults and athletic professionals, Wilson said. The facility will offer personalized training rather than memberships, and guests can work with a variety of on-site coaches, including personal strength and fitness coaches, as well as nutritionists.

The Inpower IQ Performance Center will also include a recovery center and rehabilitation services with physical therapists and athletic trainers, Wilson said. The facility will also offer technology-based predictive injury and movement assessments.

“We've got a vision for more [locations] if this works out and goes like we think it will,” Wilson said. “This was almost a ready-made opportunity for us. Michael Johnson's facility that was already there, it was already a good facility. We just think we can dramatically improve this and make this fit more [of] the community needs.”

A soft opening for the facility will begin in September with plans for a grand opening in October, Wilson said.
