Denise Riemenschneider is running for the Lewisville ISD board of trustees Place 2 seat. She will run against David Hernandez and Allison Lassahn in the election May 5. Community Impact Newspaper sent Riemenschneider a series of questions about her candidacy. Her written responses, edited for publication style, are below.
  1. What do you think is the biggest issue facing Lewisville ISD?
I believe the biggest issue facing LISD is declining enrollment with student security being a close second. 2. What are your plans to fix this issue? There is already a new marketing plan scheduled for the next school year, but personally, I believe we need to recruit from preschools, people new to the area, and within our school district. Our neighbors need to understand that LISD is the best place for their child to attend school! 3. If elected, what will be your top priorities? My top priority will be to consistently put the children first every time we make a decision. It is important for me, as a parent of two elementary students, to be mindful of the family unit and the impact school has. 4. What are your thoughts about Lewisville ISD becoming a "Robin Hood" district? Unfortunately, school finance is long overdue for reform. However, this state-based decision isn’t one as a single voting resident I can change. I wish it was different, I wish our enrollment wasn’t declining. I wish we had an endless supply of funds for our schools.
