Allison Lassahn is running for the Lewisville ISD board of trustees Place 2 seat.

She will run against David Hernandez and Denise Riemenschneider in the election May 5.

Community Impact Newspaper sent Lassahn a series of questions about her candidacy. Her written responses, edited for publication style, are below.

  1. What do you think is the biggest issue facing Lewisville ISD?

The biggest issues for LISD are financial. We will soon be sending over $30 million to the state due for recapture, and in addition, enrollment in LISD is also decreasing causing overall financial issues.

  2. What are your plans to fix this issue?

I would like to increase the number of academies throughout the district to help increase enrollment and make our district more competitive with others. We also need to be very proactive advocating to the state Legislature about school finance reform.

  3. If elected, what will be your top priorities?
Sticking to the guidelines that the Facilities Advisory Committee set out for the 2017 bond funds. Also, addressing school safety so that all in the community are heard and come up with solutions together.

  4. What are your plans to address the district's declining enrollment?

The district should implement a marketing plan to showcase to the community all of the amazing programs we currently have.

  5. What are your thoughts about Lewisville ISD becoming a "Robin Hood" district?

Briefly, I think it stinks! We need to keep educating the voters in Texas about school finance and work to reform this flawed plan.
