Portions of South Belt Line Road and Mockingbird Lane in Coppell will be closed this week and next week to allow for Dallas Area Rapid Transit Silver Line construction.

The two closures are necessary for DART crews to safely complete bridge beam installation and railroad crossing work, according to a city press release.

South Belt Line Road from Southwestern Boulevard to Sanders Loop will be closed from 8 p.m. Feb. 24 to 4 a.m. Feb. 25, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured to Sanders Loop to bypass the construction zone.

Crews will continue to set bridge beams in the area from Feb. 27 to March 3. The work will be completed during daytime hours. While road closures are not expected, flaggers will be present to allow trucks to enter and exit the construction site.

Starting Feb. 27, Mockingbird Lane southbound will be closed so that DART crews can perform work on the railroad crossing at Mockingbird Lane and South Belt Line Road. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the construction zone. The northbound zone will be closed once work on the southbound lane is completed. Northbound traffic will be detoured around the construction zone.

DART is currently constructing a Silver Line station in the Cypress Waters area. The 26-mile hybrid rail line will stretch from DFW Airport to Plano, spanning multiple counties. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2026. More information on the Silver Line project can be found here.
