Six candidates file for Coppell ISD board of trustees election

Coppell ISD will have six candidates on the ballot for the May 6 general election.

Samit Patel, Ranna Raval and Jonathan Powers are on the ballot for Place 4; the seat is currently held by Neena Biswas. CISD Board President David Caviness is seeking re-election, while Julie Waters is contesting his Place 5 seat.

Jobby Mathew is running unopposed for Place 7, which is a one-year unexpired term. Mathew was sworn in to serve as the Place 7 representative during a Nov. 14 special meeting. Mathew will hold the position until this year’s election. Place 7 will then be up for election for its full three-year term in 2024.

Board members serve three-year terms and are elected at large for specific places on the board.

The last day to register to vote in the election is April 6. Early voting for the May 6 election will run from April 24 to May 2. The last day to apply to vote by mail is April 25.
