Reconstruction plans for Duck Pond Park will move forward after Coppell City Council approved a $810,490 bid award.

The park will receive improvements aimed to improve park users’ experience, according to the April 11 agenda item.

The project’s scope includes a new concrete walking trail around the entire pond, playground surface replacement with a perimeter beam and accessible ramp, pond edge reestablishment, landscape improvements and irrigation.

Playground surface improvements will eliminate safety concerns and correct drainage issues so that the playground can be used regularly as intended, according to the agenda item. The pond edge re-establishment will provide a safer fishing experience and the opportunity for people to utilize the shoreline.

Funding for the park beautification project was approved in 2019. It will be funded through the Coppell Recreation and Development Corp fund.
