Crafts and fabrics store Joann is shutting its doors in Lewisville after the company filed for bankruptcy with plans to close stores across the U.S., according to a company news release.

The company commenced Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings to facilitate a sale process to maximize the value of its business and is seeking court approval for the sale of substantially all of its assets, according to the release.

This will include shutting down over 500 stores nationwide, including the Lewisville location. No timeline on the store's closure was provided.

Joann offered craft assortment items including yarn, needle arts, paper crafting, jewelry making and cake decorating. It also sold a selection of floral, candles, ready-made frames, seasonal decor, sewing machines, fabrics for apparel and materials for quilting.
