In a nutshell
Just Another Bar, or JAB, and Just Another Coffee Shop, or JACS, already filed permits to revamp the space into two distinct areas: an open and bright coffee shop in the front of the building and a darker, more sophisticated bar and restaurant, according to a facade grant filed with the city of Roanoke.
The concept is based on Just Another Bar, or JAB, in Helsinki, Finland. The Roanoke version will have coffee, pastries and ice cream within JACS, and JAB will offer French and other European cuisines, beer, curated cocktails and wines, the permit states.
The speakeasy will host events such as live music and art shows featuring local artists. Community Impact has reached out for confirmation of a set opening date.
The backstory
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, an $80,000 renovation of the building’s interior was finished in May to retrofit for the speakeasy.
Roanoke Trading Company closed its brick-and-mortar store in September 2024 after 10 years, according to a social media post from the company.
