Construction work is set to begin in June on a privately funded distribution center west of the Hwy. 114 and Litsey Road intersection in Roanoke.

The $31 million dollar distribution center will total 568,858-square-feet and will include more than 20,000-square-feet of office space, according to owner John Bunten with BN Roanoke Partners LP.

“We’re looking for any tenant that needs high-[volume] storage, whether it’s e-commerce or a [company] that needs to move material in and out,” Bunten said.

Initial work on the distribution center began in April, and construction is expected to finish by spring 2021, he said.

According to Bunten, the distribution center will enable cross-docking, which will allow companies to unload materials from one semi-trailer directly to another without the need for storage.

In addition, the distribution center will have a clear-height of 36 feet for incoming semi-trailers and other delivery vehicles, Bunten said.
