According to state records, the company is constructing a new car wash tunnel at their travel center. The car wash will add 5,647 square feet to that location. The estimated cost of the addition is $6 million, according to documents.
Buc-ee’s is headquartered in Lake Jackson, just outside of Houston. The company was started in 1982 by Arch Alpin III. There are now 44 locations and 34 of those are in Texas, according the company.
Construction of its Fort Worth car wash is expected to begin on Feb. 1 and be completed by Aug. 31. Once completed, it will be only the sixth Buc-ee’s location in Texas to have a car wash, according to its website. The Buc-ee’s at 2800 I-35E in Denton is the nearest other location that features a car wash.
Buc-ee’s holds two world records in terms of size, according to its website. The New Braunfels store is the largest convenience store in the world at 66,335 square feet. Its Katy location has the world’s longest car wash with 255 feet of conveyor. The documents did not specify how long the Fort Worth car wash would be.
