Umbra Winery announced Aug. 3 it is closing its Grapevine tasting room, which is located at 415 S. Main St., Grapevine. The wine company cited statewide restrictions that have closed bars and tasting rooms amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the primary reason for the closure. However, Umbra will continue to operate its winery in Springtown, which doubles as a wedding venue. It also provides cottage rentals and has an estate barrel room there along with the third oldest vineyard in Texas.

The winery opened in Grapevine in 2014.

“Its been a wild and amazing adventure since Day 1, and we will all cherish the people and memories made there,” owner John Wilson said in a company release. “These last 7 years have been a blur of festivals, trails, private events, parades, 40 days of Christmas, live music, fun wine-based cocktail creations, champagne tastings, food pairing events, painting/floral classes, art showings, NYE celebrations, and much much more. We’ve had some wonderful staff members and awesome customers!”
