The town of Westlake is looking for a new council member after Tim Shiner resigned.

Shiner joined council on Aug. 8, 2022 and won re-election in May 2023. Shiner attended a meeting on May 15, one of only three council members present—along with Mayor Pro Tem David Quint and outgoing-Mayor Sean Kilbride.

The trio accepted the election results but that was the only action taken that day.

On May 16, an email from newly-elected Mayor Kim Greaves announced that Shiner had stepped down from his town council spot and the Westlake Academy board of trustees.

“Tim has played an integral role in many of our accomplishments specifically with his knowledge of economics and cyber security,” Greaves wrote. “Tim has many interests outside of his role as an elected official, including being a proud grandfather. His resignation will now allow him more time to spend with his growing family.”
