Southlake's newest city council members were sworn into office on May 11 following the official canvassing of the May 1 election results.

John Huffman was sworn in as the city's newest mayor, succeeding Laura Hill. New council members Randy Robbins and Amy Torres-Lepp took over the Place 2 and Place 5 seats respectively.

"Now the time for campaigning is over, and the time for governing has begun," Huffman said. "As a mayor, I will lead you with integrity, transparency, and I will strive every day to earn [your] trust."

Friends and families attended the meetings to celebrate the three candidates' wins as well as bid farewell to former Mayor Hill and former Council Member Shawn McCaskill.

"This was the most humbling experience," said Torres-Lepp. "I look forward to protecting and preserving our great city."

Council members Chad Patton and Randy Williamson were chosen to be Mayor Pro-Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem respectively.
