The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees remains in search of a new superintendent, according to an update given April 9. Interim Superintendent Rick DeMasters will continue serving through the transition.
The announcement followed the board of trustees' interviewing candidates during the April 6 executive session.

Over the past few months, the board of trustees has interviewed many candidates, but has not yet found the right candidate to lead the district into its next chapter, according to the update from the board of trustees.
"While we were impressed by the caliber of many candidates, the board is unified in the belief that finding the perfect match for our district is worth the extra time,” board President Shannon Braun said in the update. “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a steady hand at the helm through this process. Mr. DeMasters has stepped in during a challenging few months and led with grace, transparency and strength. We have complete confidence in his ability to continue moving our district forward."

DeMasters was named the interim superintendent at the Dec. 15 board meeting, Community Impact previously reported.
"In the short time I’ve been here, I have developed a special connection to this district,” DeMasters said in the update. “I care deeply about the success of every student and the well-being of our staff. I am fully invested in the success of GCISD and honored to continue providing stability while the board identifies the permanent leader this community deserves.”
DeMasters replaced Brad Schnautz after Schnautz accepted a job offer as the executive director of the Region 11 Education Service Center. Schnatuz's last day as the GCISD superintendent was Jan. 2.
