The search for these positions will begin in the coming weeks, Lyons said. In the meantime, district officials plan to select individuals to serve in interim capacities. GCISD officials have not yet selected interim candidates, and there is not a set date on when those will be determined.
What's happening?
Raymond will be taking a new position as director of athletics at Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD on Jan. 26 and will continue to serve GCISD until then, Lyons said. He joined GCISD in April 2022.
Raymond said that the position at EMSISD was a good next step professionally and personally.
“I am so proud of what we've accomplished during my time in GCISD,” he said. “Across the district, we have a group of outstanding coaches who are even better people and I think the world of them. I am excited to see the continued success of GCISD, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community."
Johnson will be retiring after 23 years of service in school district finance and serving as a certified public accountant, Lyons said. He will be leaving GCISD at the end of January after serving the district for one year. Prior to his tenure at GCISD, he was the chief financial officer at Carroll ISD, per previous reporting.
“While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in public school finance and the last year in GCISD, I am looking forward to enjoying retirement,” Johnson said. “I leave with complete confidence in the finance team and the strategic financial planning that has been put in place to carry the district into the budget planning process for the next school year and beyond.”
Berger’s last day at GCISD was Jan. 2, Lyons said. He has a new position as chief technology officer at Arlington ISD, according to a news release from AISD.
“We did a lot of really great things and really helped to change and redefine education and technology integration," Berger said. "I felt that the time was right for a new challenge and Arlington ISD provided a unique opportunity [where] I could leverage 25 years of experience to a broader landscape. I truly believe I can bring my experience to [AISD] to help scale digital transformation and ensure that every student has access to the tools they need to succeed.”
Berger started his position at GCISD in March 2017, Lyons said. He attended the Cybersecurity Summit at the White House in 2023 to discuss ways of enhancing cybersecurity measures across educational institutions nationwide, according to previous reporting.

Former GCISD Superintendent Brad Schnautz announced his new position as Region 11 Education Service Center in November, per a GCISD news release.
His last day at GCISD was Jan. 5, according to the release.
Schnautz joined GCISD in 2017 as assistant superintendent and served as superintendent since March 2023, per previous reporting. GCISD named Rick DeMasters as interim superintendent in December.
