Verizon Wireless will expand its Southlake campus to include a data center, operations building and an enclosed access spine totaling over 200,000 square feet, according to Southlake city documents.

City Council voted unanimously to approve the site and development plans for the facility at a March 1 meeting.

The complex, which will be located on just over 22 acres of land at the corner of West Dove Road and West Kirkwood Boulevard, will have five data center pods with an access spine among them, according to city documents. The pods will be built in two phases. Two pods will be built in Phase 1, while another three pods will be constructed at a later date.

Bufferyards on three sides of the complex will allow for “preservation of natural vegetation and trees,” city documents state.

Completion dates for either phase have not yet been determined, according to city documents.
