The request for a conditional use permit for a self-defense and firearm training business, United Defense Tactical of Grapevine, was approved during the Grapevine City Council meeting April 15.

The business will move into the spot formerly occupied Mattress Firm in the Grapevine Crossing shopping center.
United Defense Tactical will offer a simulator-based instruction system that is free of live firearms and focuses on situational awareness, de-escalation techniques, self-defense and understanding the laws surrounding violent encounters, according to city documents.
