The North Texas Tollway Authority approved construction contracts to extend Dallas North Tollway from US 380 to FM 428, through Prosper and Celina.

Two-minute impact

According to a news release issued by the NTTA, construction is slated to begin in spring. The 6-mile expansion will consist of three lanes in both directions. The project is expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2027.

NTTA Project Communications Manager Brian SanFilippo said in an email that the total budget for the project is $460 million.

The NTTA completed the Dallas North Tollway main lane bridge over US 380, which is currently undergoing widening efforts, earlier this year.

What they’re saying

“We are excited to expand the DNT, a backbone of North Texas, to provide travel options to new communities,” said Elizabeth Mow, NTTA assistant executive director of infrastructure, in a news release. “History has shown, where NTTA roads go, economic development and prosperity soon follow.”
