A total of eight candidates have filed to run in the May 7 general election for seats on the Frisco ISD board of trustees.
Filing for the general election closed Feb. 18. Below are the candidates who will appear on the ballot.
Place 1
Angela Dunford has been an FISD resident for more than eight years, according to her election filing. Dunford works in pharmaceutical research.
Dunford will run against incumbent Gopal Ponangi. Ponangi has served on the board since 2019, according to the district website. He is a senior manager at Tata Consultancy Services and has been an FISD resident since 2003.
Place 2
Current Board Member Natalie Hebert has filed for re-election to Place 2. Hebert has served on the board since 2019, the website stated. She is a certified teacher and has been an FISD resident since 2004.
Kelly Karthik has also filed seeking the Place 2 seat. Karthik works as the chief people and growth officer at technology solutions firm CorCam, her filing stated. She has been an FISD resident for six years.
Marvin Lowe, who also seeks the Place 2 seat, works as a real estate broker, his filing stated. He has been an FISD resident for more than 14 years.
Place 3
Three candidates have filed to fill Board Member Chad Rudy’s seat. Rudy said in November that he will not seek re-election.
Stephanie Elad is among them. Elad works as a human resources director, her filing stated. She has been an FISD resident for more than eight years.
Dustin Paschal has also filed to run for Place 3. Paschal works as an attorney, according to his filing. He has been an FISD resident for nearly four years.
Timothy Soto will also run for Place 3. Soto has an occupation in sales, according to his filing. Soto has been an FISD resident for seven months.
The last day to register to vote is April 7. Early voting begins April 25 and ends May 3.
