Frisco ISD narrows superintendent search to 3 candidates

Superintendent Mike Waldrip's retirement was announced by the district in November. Waldrip has served as superintendent of FISD since 2017 and is stepping down June 30, 2026.

The district's board of trustees selected Impact Education Specialists to guide the district through its executive search process in December.

In partnership with the firm, district leaders have received community feedback to identify important qualities and priorities among district staff, families and the FISD community. The school board aligned community feedback with the district's strategic goals to select a leader who will maintain the district's academic excellence and student opportunity, the release states.

Next steps

FISD leaders will conduct final interviews for the superintendent in early March, the release states. Officials plan to announce the lone finalist in mid-March, who under Texas law, cannot be approved by the board of trustees for the position until a 21-day waiting period ends.
