Jimmy and Clara Jones Park, located south of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, will see more construction, including installation of additional drainage systems and adjustments to the interpretive play area, according to a Frisco City Council staff report.

At a Nov. 15 meeting, Frisco City Council members approved change order No. 5 for the park's construction, valued at about $48,545, which provides funding for additional drainage systems to correct excess water pooling near the pavilion area. The excess water pooling was caused by minimal slope percentages to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements on the pavement, according to the staff report.

The change order will also cover adjustments to the play area in the southeast corner of the park by elevating the height of the wood posts for safer use of the play elements.

Change orders 1-4 were executed using previously approved contingency funds to address field changes and to adjust item quantities for paving, drainage and utilities.

Council members approved a construction contract worth about $2.16 million for Jimmy and Clara Jones Park in July 2021. The contract included authorization of $150,000 for construction phase contingencies.

Change order No. 5 will be funded with general obligation bonds, according to the staff report. The park is scheduled to complete construction by the end of December, according to a capital projects monthly report published in October.
