According to unofficial results, Jeff Cheney has won the race for Frisco mayor.

Cheney garnered 53.7 percent of the vote, whereas former Council Member Bob Allen received 46.3 percent of the vote.

Cheney, also a former council member, will take over for outgoing Mayor Maher Maso, who is term limited this year.

"The future of Frisco is bright," Cheney said. "...I'm excited about the opportunity to bring Frisco to the next generation. We're about to build-out the second half of our city, and I consider this to be the opportunity of a lifetime."

Cheney had served on city council for nine years. Cheney owns two businesses: The Cheney Group—a residential real estate firm—and frisco-online.com—a community forum and aggregate news website. His professional background also includes being a certified public accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Allen did not immediately return a call for comment Saturday night.
