The Picklr franchisee Ryan Barker said 15 indoor pickleball clubs are planned for North Texas cities, starting with an upcoming McKinney location.

The details

The Utah-based company, founded in 2021, has seven corporate-owned pickleball club locations and has sold 175 franchises, co-founder Austin Wood said.

The McKinney location will be the first DFW location and is expected to open later this year.

Other planned locations will undergo three to four years of development prior to opening, Wood said. Barker said other DFW cities that are slated for a location of The Picklr include:
  • Addison
  • Celina
  • Dallas
  • Denton
  • Farmers Branch
  • Fort Worth
  • Frisco
  • Garland
  • Lewisville
  • Plano
  • Prosper
  • Princeton
  • Wylie

The Picklr in McKinney will offer nine total indoor courts along with a warmup court, Barker said.

Courts at the company’s clubs are built to a 30-by-60-foot playing area, which is the professional standard, Wood said. As a result, all locations of The Picklr would meet the qualifications to host professional tournaments, he said.

The company also partners will Pickleball Inc., the parent company of pickleball brands including the Carvana Professional Pickleball Association and PickleballTV, according to a news release.

“The Picklr is where the pros play,” Woods said.

The McKinney club will fill a location formerly occupied by Bed, Bath and Beyond, Wood said, and will be the second time the company has converted a retail space formerly occupied by the home goods store into a pickleball club. The location will have a mezzanine level, available private offices and more, Barker said.

The club will offer day passes as well as all-inclusive memberships that will give members access to club programs, clinics and more.
