“Being in a warehouse, we are able to do a lot of large events,” Bullard said.
The business’ website lists weddings, corporate events, product launches and fundraising galas as some examples of events for which Full Bloom can provide services.
Bullard grew up around flowers in that her mother and grandmother had a great eye for floral design, she said, and her grandmother grew flowers on an acre of land in Iowa. However, when running her business, she does not draw on this botanical influence as much as she does her 10 years as a consultant for small and medium-sized businesses.
“My strength is not designing; it’s hiring the right people who represent the Full Bloom brand,” she said.
Starting out, she employed two people—one floral designer and one delivery driver. Bullard said business has grown exponentially, and she now has five designers, two junior designers and five delivery drivers.
The business is 100% woman-owned, the shop boasts on its website. Floral purchases from the shop are also backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee, according to its website.
The website also has a blog that offers suggestions for wedding arrangements and guides to the language of flowers.
Bullard orders flowers directly from Columbia, Ecuador and Holland. If she could only stock five flowers, Bullard said she would put peonies as her first choice, because “they’re gorgeous and have the best fragrance of any flower.” Rounding out her top picks are hydrangeas, orchids, sunflowers and roses.
She and her team fill many requests for modern designs using tropical flowers that are sometimes combined with succulents. They also create traditional pieces featuring dozens of roses. They often incorporate surprising design elements, such as bamboo and silver dollar eucalyptus, she said.
“We are a true full-service florist. Everything that falls under the flower umbrella, we do,” Bullard said.
Bullard said interacting with her staff and customers is her favorite element of owning this business.
“It’s a very fulfilling business,” she said. “If someone lost someone or they are celebrating a fresh engagement—flowers are God’s beauty passed along to someone else.”
