A new church is one step closer to breaking ground on FM 407 after the Argyle Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved its site plan at the Feb. 4 meeting.

Valley Creek Church would be located on 7.45 acres near I-35W at the intersection FM 407 and Gateway Boulevard, according to town documents.
The building would be 35,724 square feet and can seat 750 people, per town documents. The site plan proposal included 378 parking spaces, but was brought down to 350 after planning and zoning commissioners suggested taking out the parking spaces closest to FM 407 in favor of more landscaping.
“I’d love to see more landscaping along the FM 407 side ... [and] having a nice berm to create some more definition,” Commissioner Michael Udovic said.
Brad Lanham, the executive pastor of operations for Valley Creek Church, agreed to the suggestion.
The landscaping buffer along FM 407 would be 18 feet and include a 3-foot berm.
Lanham said that he may ask the planning and zoning commission for more parking behind the church building at a later date if needed.
The background
The Valley Creek Church site plan was first approved in April 2020, but construction had to be put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Since construction did not start within the required time frame, the site plan expired, requiring the applicant to resubmit the plan for approval.
Additionally, the Texas Department of Transportation acquired 1.5 acres of the church's property along FM 407 to expand the road and add a 10-foot sidewalk, per town documents.

The site plan will be looked over by Argyle Town Council at the next regular meeting Feb. 17.
