Construction begins soon on two Flower Mound parks.

Gerault Park and Tealwood Oaks Park will experience various upgrades, and the finish date will be summer for both projects.

The details

At Gerault Park, located at 1200 Gerault Road, crews on Feb. 5 will regrade and install new sod on the multiuse fields; repair portions of the trail throughout the park; improve drainage; upgrade the existing pavilion with new paint and stone columns; and replace the existing trash cans and picnic tables, according to a town news release.

Construction will take five months and should finish early summer, according to the release. Officials said the multiuse fields and parts of the trail will close during this time, and residents are asked to refrain from using them to allow newly installed grass time to grow in a healthy manner.

At Tealwood Oaks Park, located at 1900 Tealwood Oaks Blvd., the improvements will include installation of steel pedestrian bridges to replace the existing bridges, installation of fabric shade structures near the playground as well as installation of picnic tables and benches. There also will be drainage improvements and repairs to the existing trail throughout the park.

The town's contractor was expected to begin construction at the end of June. Work is expected to take four to five months to complete, the release states. During the construction period, areas of the park will be required to close but will be clearly marked to allow the open areas of the park to continue to be used safely.
