Flower Mound’s third annual Arts Festival is being pushed to a September date.

How we got here

The festival, held at Heritage Park, has been rescheduled for Sept. 30, having originally been scheduled for May 13. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and attendees may enjoy live musical performances, shop artwork from local artists, add their own art to the community mural and create art, among other activities, according to Flower Mound’s website.

The Arts Festival was moved to the fall after being postponed May 13 because of impending bad weather.

Flower Mound Communications Director Melissa Demmitt said in an email that when rescheduling this event, there were a couple considerations for the new date.

“The Sept. 30 date was the best available due to the numerous town and community events held at Heritage Park, as well as other town special events already planned throughout the summer in other locations,” she said. “We wanted to ensure the majority of our art vendors, performers, artists, and support staff would be available on the new date and give them time to make arrangements; and just generally, art festivals are typically popular in spring and fall.”

The first two festivals were held in May.

By the numbers

Demmitt said here is the lineup that was scheduled for May 13, which should be similar to the Sept. 30 date, but those details are still being worked out:

  • 44 art vendors
  • 11 sponsors
  • 10 performance groups
  • Five chalk artists
  • Two community murals led by two artists
  • Four arts activity tents overseen by three artists
  • Four food trucks
  • 10 parks crew members, four staff, and 12 volunteers

Going forward

On the Flower Mound website, town officials advise people that if they signed up as a vendor for the original date, they should be hearing from someone from the town soon, but they can email questions to [email protected]. If people weren’t originally signed up but are now interested in becoming a vendor, they can also email [email protected].
