The filing period of the May 2 election is underway, with candidates required to file for a place on the ballot by 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Flower Mound, Highland Village and Argyle each have local races that are set to appear on voters’ ballots in May.
What’s on the ballot?
Flower Mound has two council places on the May ballot: Place 2 and Place 5. Flower Mound council members serve three-year terms.
Lewisville ISD will have two trustee single-member districts on the ballot in May: Place 4 and Place 5. The two elected trustees will serve three-year terms.
Highland Village has four positions on the ballot:
- Mayor, representing Place 1
- Council member Place 2
- Council member Place 4
- Council member Place 6
Winners will be elected to a two-year term.
Argyle voters will cast ballots for three council member places: Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5. Council members are currently elected for a two-year term, but voters will also decide on reauthorizing a sales tax collection for street maintenance and to extend elected officials’ terms to three years starting in 2027.
Argyle ISD has three trustee positions up for election: Place 1, Place 2 and Place 3. Trustees are elected to a three-year term.
One last thing
The last day to register to vote must be postmarked by April 2, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
