Lewisville ISD trustees approve $15.4M in campus and facility renovations

The projects total nearly $15.38 million, which is about $1.1 million over budget, Fite said.

“We do have available funds in different sources, there are land sales, there are bond project savings, and there’s always our bond interest earnings account that can be utilized to cover the overage,” Fite said.

The Lewisville High School concession renovation went about $1.3 million over budget due to installing air conditioning and sliding windows to build the concession area to the same standard as other concession stands, which weren’t included in the original bond package. Workers also had to expand the bathroom building to make room for an accessible family restroom to comply with building codes, Fite added. The concession building also required a networking room to provide internet service to operate the point of sale systems, which added to the cost.

The Lewisville High School boys track locker room was also $77,500 over budget due to additional work required to make the locker room benches compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and additional work on the showers.

The indoor athletic center came in roughly $327,000 under budget, and The Colony High School indoor athletic center came in about $81,000 over budget, due to roof replacements and removal and the reinstallation of lighting to accommodate the roof replacement, which were not in the original project scope, according to a Fite's report.

Fite said the funds originally allocated to the Lewisville Learning Center’s 20-year renovations will finance Highland Village Elementary School’s projects, as well as construction projects for various LISD programs.

The Lewisville Learning Center was declared surplus in August, and district officials are looking to relocate the programs out of the learning center before the start of the 2026-27 school year, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

Fite said district leadership is still determining the scope of the work but asked the board to approve the funds ahead of time to get a head start on the construction to account for long purchasing lead times.

Looking ahead

All but one of the construction projects will start this summer, with the Lewisville High School concession renovation to start after the 2026 baseball season, Fite said.
