Local school districts are monitoring an arctic cold front expected to hit the Dallas-Fort Worth area with sleet Friday night.
What you need to know
Wintry precipitation, with the majority being sleet, is expected throughout Saturday and potentially into Sunday morning, per previous reporting. While precipitation is expected to stop by Sunday morning, conditions may not improve until Tuesday onward.
LISD plans to notify families of any inclement weather updates through the following avenues:
- District mobile app
- Phone calls and texts
- District website homepage
- Social media on X and Facebook
District facilities will also be closed after 5 p.m. Friday and during the weekend and all events at that time will be rescheduled, according to a district
social media post. Samantha Fitspatrick, the district’s communications director, said district leaders will decide on closures no later than 5 a.m. and notify the community by 5:30 a.m. If there is no notification from district officials, school and school activities will resume as scheduled, according to LISD’s inclement weather
policy.
