“I want [customers] to know that if you need an outfit, you're going to find something here," Buckert said. “You're also going to find confidence and somebody who wants to help you be the very best that you can be.”
The shop has a booth at Painted Tree in Highland Village and a store in Argyle, Buckert said.
What they offer
Buckert brings in new products weekly, including luxury loungewear, sweatshirts, sweaters, T-shirts, candles and holiday-themed products. She aims to always have casual dresses, fun and unique gifts, and denim jeans available.
“It's been important for me to find the best of the best with denim and make sure that I'm continually updating the styles for people,” she said.
The Bees Knees has a small selection of accessories for Mahjong, a Chinese tile-based game. Buckert can curate tiles and a mat based on the customer's preferences.
“With my space being limited, my idea was to curate collections for people as opposed to having a huge selection of grab and go items,” Buckert said.
Buckert also hosts two or three events a month, which include Mahjong nights or seasonal craft workshops.
“I love giving people a reason to come in and to spend time together,” she said. “If you do some shopping while you're at it, great."
Looking ahead
Buckert dreams of expanding in Argyle so she can open a men’s boutique store or sell a line of men’s clothes and accessories.
“I think it would be really cool to have a one-stop shop where [men are] willing to come in and shop for themselves [and] the women have a place to go [to] find those unique things that [their] gentlemen won't buy for themselves,” she said.
Buckert is also looking to offer her curated clothing and accessories online next year.
"I am not here to make the sale,” she said. “I am here to make you feel confident. I'm here to make you feel better. I'm here to make shopping a joyful and fun experience.”
