Allen ISD teachers and staff will receive pay increases based on salary midpoints next school year.
What happened?
Allen ISD’s board of trustees approved pay increases for teachers and staff during a May 11 workshop meeting. The raises will take effect in the 2026-27 school year, according to a district document.
Board members approved a 2% pay increase from the salary midpoint for district teachers and staff. For starting teachers with zero experience, that means an increase from $61,600 to $62,304, according to a district presentation.
For the maximum salary offered to teachers with 30 years of experience or more, the pay is increasing from $78,290 to $78,994, according to the compensation plan.
Johnna Walker, assistant superintendent of Human Resources, said the new compensation and benefits plan is aligned with district policy while ensuring “compensation is competitive and sustainable.”
The action comes as district officials are preparing a new budget for the 2026-27 school year. The approved compensation increase is the last “big determining factor” for the upcoming budget, according to district officials.
Quote of note
Board member and secretary John Holley said the 2% midpoint increase is “absolutely great” for Allen ISD staff. He thanked district officials who had a part in putting the compensation plan together.
“It’s a fiscally responsible move on our part [while keeping] us in the same neighborhood as many of our surrounding districts,” Holley said.
The details
The compensation and benefits plan approved by the board includes four components:
- Pay structures
- Stipends and supplements
- Substitute pay
- Benefits
“We do try to remain competitive with surrounding districts to attract top talent and keep our teachers here in Allen,” Walker said. “We attempt to address the rising impact of inflation on our employees’ cost of living.”
After approval of the plan, final edits will be made, and Superintendent Robin Bullock will notify district staff before the end of the school year, Walker said. Allen ISD's last day of school is scheduled for May 22, according to a 2025-26 academic calendar.
