Avanti breaks ground on Towne Lake senior community

Avanti at Towne Lake, an upcoming assisted living and memory care community for seniors, broke ground May 8 at its site at 17808 Lakecrest View Drive.

The community is being developed by The Woodlands-based Avanti Senior Living. The 76,000-sqaure-foot facility will include 50 assisted living units and 40 memory care units, said Avanti COO Lori Juneau Alford.

"We think our product fits well into the Cy-Fair area where there is a real need for this kind of facility," she said. "The senior population is growing, and projections show it will continue to grow."

The opening date goal is set for April 2015, Alford said. Amenities will include an activity center, multiple dining options and a wellness suite with beauty salon, massage room and doctor's office.

Alford said that she, along with co-founder Tim Hekker, have 50 years experience combined dealing specifically with senior housing, specializing in assisted living and memory care.

"We know what seniors want in their communities," she said. "We keep that in mind with everything from the services we offer to the building design, down to the placement of every wall and every floor."

The $15 million Towne Lake community is the first of several facilities Avanti has planned for the Houston area. A second is expected to open in Vision Park in the fall of 2015.
