As of press time Dec. 10, Harris County Precinct 3 officials overseeing construction on a Greenhouse Road extension from Alston Hills Drive to Towne Lake Greene Trail said the roadway should open to traffic Dec. 16, barring delays.
Construction on the extension project began on April 20. It was one of several smaller projects county officials have planned to help improve mobility in the Cypress area, said Randy Schilhab, manager of engineering for Precinct 3.
The road has been extended as a four-lane boulevard at the cost of roughly $5.9 million. Plans are also in the works for Greenhouse Road to be extended farther north through partnerships with Caldwell Companies, the development company behind Towne Lake, Schilhab said.
“When a private landowner develops their property, they are required to dedicate the road right of way, install the drainage system and construct two lanes of pavement for all major thoroughfares within their plat boundaries, all at no cost to Harris County,” Schilhab said.
