CFISD is in need of volunteers for its Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) program. Individuals can volunteer in science labs and cultural arts programs, read to students, perform clerical work, deliver materials from the Charlotte Davis Burns Science Resource Center to schools, work in school libraries, serve as mentors, or participate in the annual Bus Buddies program.

Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department seeks volunteers to join the department. Before volunteers can join the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department, they must attend several Thursday night meetings, which begin at 7 p.m., at the appropriate station to learn about volunteer responsibilities. The captain will then assist volunteers in completing a cadet training program. Individuals can stop by one of the 12 fire stations to get more information. Uniform and firefighting clothing are provided to new members.

Cypress Assistance Ministries is an organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families in financial distress. The nonprofit is in need of volunteers to help out at the food pantry, assistance office, resale shop, donation center and community outreach program, or serve as a driver. Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with several tasks in various departments throughout the hospital in both clinical and nonclinical areas, including the physical therapy and emergency room departments, information desk and gift shop. Morning and afternoon shifts are available, and volunteers are asked to serve a minimum of four consecutive hours each week. Cy-Hope’s resale shop, Hope Chest, is seeking volunteers to accept donations on Wednesdays and Saturdays and with help sorting and organizing donations.

Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that helps construct new, affordable homes around the community. The Langham Creek Family YMCA has served the Cy-Fair community since 1983 through programs and social services designed to help individuals and families. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to assist with coaching youth sports teams; being a buddy for the Langham Creek location’s Miracle League and other adaptive sports programs; assisting with community events; such as Operation Backpack and the Fall Festival; and serving on the board of advisors.

Mission Cy-Fair aims to create safe and loving neighborhoods and help adults achieve their full potential. The organization helps residents come together to turn neighborhoods into safe havens of friendship and support.
